This might be the best record of 2019. One of my favorite. I believe, it is her best work so far (the level was quite high already), and I hope the derivative is positive even at this point. Twigs‘ genius was augmented with the one of Nicolas Jaar here (who himself released the best record of 2018, to my taste). Lots of other personnel contributed, including Daniel Lopatin. Indeed, the vaporwavy “daybed” might be my favorite song on the record. There are so many of them. Twigs is unique and groundbreaking. Funny, but the only reference that came to mind was Depeche Mode (on “Mary Magdalene“). Twigs is also just such a gorgeous person to listen to.
We are now looking forward to more from her in the near future.
